The London Eye

London is a hotspot for activity and exciting experiences. For instance, if you enjoy gambling, numerous casino UK games are available for you at your own convenience. There are also several unique and modern restaurants if you’d like to experiment with different cuisine.

However, one of the most incredible tourist attractions in the city is the London Eye, which has been a source of excitement for most people. Should you find yourself in the UK capital, this surely qualifies as a must-do activity. You may be forgiven for thinking that the London Eye is just one big Ferris wheel, but this impeccable sight is the largest cantilever wheel in the world. It is much more captivating and intriguing that you might have thought initially.

You might recognize the London Eye from the pictures that depict London’s most impressive landmarks. However, knowing where to find its location is another story altogether. This is because the directions aren’t too apparent by just looking at the images. The London Southbank is home to this tourist attraction.

It is nearer to some of the other exciting locations such as the London Dungeons and the London Aquarium. This region also houses some of the most exciting places in the UK, such as the Embarkment London Underground, Waterloo International, and Westminster’s Palace. Some of these structures are guaranteed to take your breath away. The Park Grand London is also a short distance away from the London Eye.

The London Eye was established in 1999, just before the turn of the millennium. The opening event was led by the then UK Prime Minister, Tony Blair. Interestingly enough, the London Eye was opened on the last day of that year, as a landmark that will forever be attributed to the millennium’s turn.

The structure consists of 32 capsules made from high-grade glass and would take about half an hour for one full rotation. During the ride, you get to experience the London aura viewing in many different perspectives. If you don’t want to queue, you can access a fast-track ticket to ease the entry process.

The wheel hub is constructed on a pair of supports that are firmly erected near the riverbank. These supports are pitched at a 65-degree angle on the horizontal level. Since the two support mechanisms are on one side of the wheel hub, it is believed that the structure is cantilevered around the water source.

There are also support cables that add to the whole structure’s stability, all combined into one other foundation. The wheel spans over 120 meters in diameter (about 354 feet). It also has cables all across its circumference that work just like the spokes on a bike’s wheels. The rubber tires work to help the wheel turn and rotate.

You can access The London Eye at any time of the year. All you have to do is purchase tickets beforehand, or on the day you wish to ride on the rotating, magnificent wheel. A whole trip takes roughly half an hour, although you may take up more time waiting for your turn. For this reason, it is best to book your ticket in advance.

You could choose to purchase the Skip-the-Line Ticket, which is an advance ticket. With this ticket, you can take your flight whenever you decide to visit The London Eye. For those who can afford it, you can rent a private capsule and enjoy the ride with your loved ones. There are various things you can view from The London Eye, including the Park Grand London Hotel. Every year, The London Eye gets more tourists than the Great Giza Pyramids, and the Taj Mahal combined.

The 32 capsules on this Ferris wheel represent the 32 boroughs in London. Every capsule has an attached number although number 13 is omitted. This is because of the superstitious belief that the number brings bad luck. It implies that the capsules have numbers one to twelve and fourteen to thirty-three.

These capsules travel at a speed of 26centimeters every second. It is twice the speed of a tortoise sprint. Whenever you are in the city, you can make a trip to The London Eye. It is an excellent source of entertainment for those travelling with their friends. The London Eye is the ideal site for those who enjoy beautiful sights from tall heights.
